In the details

A while ago I spent an afternoon with my friend Becca and she introduced me to some great local antique shops that I had never been too.  Even in this rural area we live in there are some great gems.

Here is what I found.  This vintage post card is great. I painted an old frame yellow to display it.

At the holidays at my Mom has gravy boats on the table and I just love that.  Not sure why.  Had to get one for my table.

One store what a great selection of tins and I had to bring some home, nice storage for tea.

I also found this rail road spike that has two cities that are near and dear to my heart.  Our family has vacationed near these towns my entire life.

I love all these little touches.  Looking forward to our next antiquing afternoon!

These days

Life has been good.  I wanted to share some of what I have been thinking and a little of what life has looked like these days.
I saw this colorful piano at a local thrift store.  If I had room for it in my house I totally would have brought it home with me.

I did buy a new project during this visit to the thrift store.  I will be working on that the next few weeks.  Can't wait for more storage!

I have noticed a trend here.  The summer months are spent outside and are so full of travel and time with at the beach.  In the fall/winter the fast pace of life slows.  People head inside.  I start to knit more.  We spend more time with friends.  There is more structure to time and somehow more time.

I love the slowing down.  I get more creative.  I get more inspired.  Friendships grow.  We go bowling.

 (I have small feet.)

With this slow down comes more dreaming.  More planning.  Coffee/hot chocolate dates with Jason as we dream together.

That's what has been going on these days.  I have lots to share.  I have some projects in the works and can't wait to bring some dreams to life!

Working with what you have

Sigh...It has been far too long since I posted.  Time to change that.  The main hindrance comes back to the type of internet we have access to here in these woods.   We have made a change to satellite internet but we are still having issues.  So...I am just going to try.  I miss blogging way too much.  It might take me longer.  This is what we have.  Time to make it work, as Tim Gunn would say.

I need to clean out my phone because I don't have anymore room for audio books.  So get ready for a picture update on the last few months via my phone!!

This is a local treasure.  Norm's fries.  I was able to enjoy some this summer.  One of the joys of summer around here.

See what I mean?  Yum.  The vinegar spray bottle they provide are the best.

We went to the fair at the end of summer.
Cute. One of my favorite spots that the fair is the miracle of life building.  This little lamb was jumping all around as he was learning to use his new limbs outside of the womb.  So awesome!!
In August Jason and I went on a vacation to our family's cabin, that was a great time.  Then a couple weeks later I got to go again with my parents.  This was one of our meals.  Fish boil is one of my favorite summer meals.
That wraps up summer 2012.  It was an amazing one with lots of new adventures.  Next post will continue to bring things up to date here.
